Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday announced a 50% concession in bus fare for all candidates who will be appearing for the NEET examination on June 21. The concession will be given to candidates who produce their admit cards while travelling in UPSRTC buses.In a meeting with senior administration officials, district magistrates, commissioners and police on Tuesday night, the CM reviewed the state’s law and order in light of the examination, and occasions like Muharram and Yoga Day.Govt has said that around 3.5 lakh candidates will appear in NEET in 59 UP districts. In addition to the bus concession, the CM directed officials to provide temporary residential facilities to candidates who have to appear for the exam in another district and do not have arrangements to stay.“All necessary arrangements must be ensured to maintain the sanctity, transparency, and sensitivity of the examination, in accordance with the guidelines of the NTA. Prompt and effective action should be taken while keeping strict surveillance on attempts to spread rumours, misleading, or false information on social media and other mediums,” the CM said.While assessing the arrangements for Yoga Day, to be celebrated on June 21, the CM described Yoga as an “invaluable heritage of Indian culture and the rishi tradition, which is a powerful means of keeping both body and mind healthy”. Crediting PM Narendra Modi for having popularised yoga on the international stage, Yogi said this year’s theme of International Yoga Day is ‘Yoga for Healthy Lifespan’. He directed officials to ensure that the PM’s programme be telecast live throughout the state.The CM told officials to ensure that public representatives are actively encouraged to participate in Yoga Day programmes. Events to mark the occasion will be organised in all 58,000 gram panchayats and 762 urban bodies of the state. The CM said that priority should be given to mass yoga events at Amrit Sarovars, historical and cultural sites. Venues for such events must be created in all 14,000 urban wards, he added.A day before Yoga Day, he said, a special cleanliness campaign should be carried out by the departments of urban development, rural development, and panchayati raj, in cooperation with educational institutions. For security at venues, the CM said that there needs to be regular patrolling by the police.The CM added that participation by voluntary organisations, Health and Wellness Centres, religious and social organisations, yoga institutions, NCC, Scouts and Guides, and the volunteers of the National Service Scheme should be ensured. He said that a publicity campaign should be run for public awareness.“Nodal officers should be appointed for the successful conduct of programmes in all districts and to ensure the presence of a public representative or a representative of the government at each event. Yoga programmes should be organised in industrial areas and police lines as well,” he said.The CM also reviewed status of public grievances, and took details of applications received on the CM Helpline, Janata Darshan, and the IGRS portal. Pointing out that the resolution status in some districts was not satisfactory, the CM said that such districts will have to immediately improve their working. He also asked for immediate appointment of chief medical officers in districts where CMOs had not been posted so far.
