LUCKNOW: A fire broke out in a building inside the Lok Bandhu Hospital campus in Ashiana early Friday after a suspected short circuit ignited the false ceiling in the waiting area of the Asha Jyoti Kendra. No one was injured.The incident occurred around 5am, triggering panic as flames spread through the false ceiling and smoke engulfed parts of the building, causing breathing difficulties for security personnel.Hospital employees rushed to the spot and used fire extinguishers to douse the flames. After nearly 30 minutes of firefighting, they brought the blaze under control. The Asha Jyoti Kendra administration informed senior officials about the incident.Hospital had witnessed a major fire on April 14, 2025, when a blaze near the ICU and wards destroyed medical equipment and treatment records. Around 200 patients were evacuated to other hospitals, while one person died in the incident.Following last year’s fire, work began on installing fire-resistant false ceilings and an automatic sprinkler system at a cost of about Rs 3 crore. However, the project remains incomplete more than a year later.
