He spurned out many welfare schemes for the farmers, the Horticulture Development Programme (State Sector) for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Farmers is the one of themThis is a targeted scheme of the Government of Uttar Pradesh aimed at increasing the income of SC/ST farmers by promoting cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, and other high-value horticultural crops. The programme also supports orchard development, quality planting material, protected cultivation, and adoption of modern horticultural practices through substantial subsidies and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).BeneficiariesThe primary beneficiaries under the scheme are:
- Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers residing in Uttar Pradesh.
- Small and marginal farmers belonging to SC/ST communities.
- Farmers owning or legally cultivating agricultural land.
- Eligible individual farmers who wish to establish orchards, vegetable gardens, floriculture units, spice cultivation, or other horticultural enterprises.
BenefitsEligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance for:
- Establishment of fruit orchards (mango, guava,
amla , lemon, etc.). - Vegetable cultivation.
- Floriculture and spice cultivation.
- Supply of quality planting material.
- Protected cultivation (polyhouses/shade nets, where applicable).
- Horticultural machinery and micro-irrigation under eligible components.
- Capacity building and technical guidance.
Subsidy
- SC/ST farmers are provided higher subsidy than the general category, with some components eligible for assistance of up to 90 percent of the approved project cost, depending on the activity and annual government norms.
The subsidy is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) after verification.Impact
