PUNE: A song that once echoed through a family celebration has taken on a painful meaning after the death of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal.Singer-performer Reetu Sharma, who performed at a function of Ketan Agarwal’s family on May 7 in Nashik, said she is “constantly reminded” of his warm nature and the words from that day as she demanded strict punishment for those accused in his death.Sharma posted a video from the function on her Instagram account, where members of both families, including Ketan Agarwal, were seen enjoying the celebration.Among the two videos posted by her, the first shows Ketan’s father Vishal Agarwal and Siya’s parents — Pravin Goyal and Pooja Goyal — standing close to each other with other relatives, while Vishal Agarwal is seen grooving with Sharma.Moments later, Ketan is seen dancing with Siya’s father Pravin to a popular Bollywood song. The video also shows Ketan’s father singing a song during the function. However, a performance by Reetu Sharma from the movie ‘Shaan’, carrying the lyrics “Bas aaj ki raat hai zindagi, kal hum kahan, tum kahan”, has now become a haunting irony after Ketan was allegedly pushed from a 300-ft cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18 allegedly by his fiancee Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary.Sharing the video, Sharma paid tribute to Ketan and recalled the atmosphere of the function.“On 7th May, we did a program in their family. Where you all can see they are all happily enjoying the program. How happy both the families were. We saw Ketan from our own eyes. Such an innocent child. Who knew this will happen to this beautiful soul,” she wrote.Calling for punishment for the accused, she added, “Siya should be punished for her deeds whatever she did to Ketan. Just because she did not liked him doesn’t mean she can take someone’s life. She did think about her parents that if she ran with her boyfriend society would blame her and her parents. But what about Ketan’s parents? She did not think what they will go through?”She further wrote, “Why saying no is more difficult than taking someone’s life?”“We want justice for Ketan!” Sharma said in her post.Meanwhile, Pune police took accused Chetan Chaudhary to Lohagad Fort on Wednesday to recreate the crime scene using a dummy matching Ketan Agarwal’s weight to reconstruct how the incident allegedly unfolded.“We took Chetan Chaudhary for the scene reconstruction, and he told us about the sequence of events of that day. Investigation is underway. The dummy was designed according to the weight of Ketan,” additional superintendent of police of Pune Rural, Shubham Kumar said. The exercise was aimed at verifying the sighting through forensic gait-matching. Gait analysis refers to the study of human movement during walking or running, mostly used by police for suspects captured on videos or CCTVs.The crime scene reconstruction for the other accused, Siya Goyal, was completed earlier.Ketan Agrawal died after falling from Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18, following which a case was registered. Lonavala Rural Police suspect that the prime accused, Siya Goyal, who was engaged to Agrawal, was unwilling to marry at this stage of her life and was allegedly under family pressure to go ahead with the marriage.Following the incident, the Maharashtra government approved the setting up of a fast-track court for the case and appointed senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Ujjwal Nikam as the Special Public Prosecutor.Meanwhile, accused Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary were arrested on June 23 and remain in police custody till July 3 as the investigation continues.(With agency inputs)
