Lucknow: Entrance examination for the IAS-PCS Awasiya Coaching scheme, under which students from economically weaker sections will receive free coaching for high-level competitive examinations, will be conducted on Sunday.An official of social welfare department, which runs the scheme, said 10,175 candidates will appear for the examination and those successful will be admitted to various residential coaching centres across the state. Classes will commence from Aug 1, and the academic session will continue until May 31, 2027.“In this session, 865 candidates will receive free residential coaching for competitive exams at seven residential coaching centres across the state. Of these, 25% seats have been reserved for candidates who qualified the preliminary exam through lateral entry,” said Sanjeev Singh, director, social welfare department.In addition to free coaching, students will be provided with free accommodation, food, books, study material and guidance from experienced faculty, the official said.“The scheme is an initiative to bring youth from socially weaker sections into the mainstream. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath stresses that financial hardship should not be an obstacle to the future of any talented student, hence govt is providing free residential coaching to poor and meritorious youth so that they can achieve success in prestigious exams such as UPSC and UPPSC,” he said.
