Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) on Saturday issued notices to 122 hotels across the city, directing them to remove illegal constructions and comply with fire safety norms within 15 days. The action follows inspections carried out after the recent fire incidents. Officials said inspections found several hotels using basements, approved only for parking, as banquet halls, laundry units and staff accommodation. Hotel owners have been asked to restore the approved use of these areas and meet all fire safety requirements.Meanwhile, a hearing on the notices, issued to the owners of the commercial building in Aliganj’s Sector-D, where a major fire broke out last month killing 15 people, will be held on Jul 7. In the notices issued earlier to owners of the building, Virendra Shukla and Surendra Shukla, LDA had asked them to submit the sanctioned building plan and other documents. Officials also found another commercial building nearby, registered in the name of Vimla Shukla, wife of Virendra Shukla, allegedly built without an approved plan.
