Aamir Khan’s sports comedy-drama ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ is finally heading to streaming, nearly a year after its theatrical release. After its theatrical release, Aamir who is also the producer of the film had opted for a unique model for its OTT release. The film was available to watch on Khan’s Youtube channel on pay-per-view model. Viewers could watch the film by paying approximately Rs 100 per view. And now it is set for to stream on SonyLIV. In its announcement, the streaming portal highlighted that the premiere would be a significant moment for the platform. ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ will become the first Hindi theatrical film to make its debut on the streaming service.The movie is an official remake of the Spanish film Champions. In the Hindi adaptation, Aamir plays Gulshan Arora, the assistant coach of a professional basketball team. After losing his job, his life takes an unexpected turn when he is caught in a drunk-driving incident that leads to a court case, setting off a chain of events that reshape his outlook on life.When Aamir had released the film on his Youtube channel with this pay-per-view model, the actor had explained that the move was aimed at testing a new approach to digital distribution while making films more accessible to audiences.“This is my private cinema chain. Think of it like Aamir Khan Productions has opened a new cinema chain, which is in everyone’s house and in everyone’s pocket… I got good offers from OTT channels. But I don’t want those Rs100-125 crore from OTT channels. I want to earn Rs 100 from my audience. I prefer that more,” Aamir told PTI.Alongside Aamir, the film also stars Genelia Deshmukh, Ashish Pendse, Aroush Datta, Aayush Bhansali, Rishi Shahani, Gopikrishnan K Varma, Rishabh Jain, Vedant Sharma, Simran Mangeshkar, Samvit Desai and Naman Misra.Directed by R. S. Prasanna, the film arrived in theatres across India in June 2025. It went on to become a major box office success, earning more than Rs 250 crore.
