Abhishek Bachchan made his debut with JP Dutta’s ‘Refugee’ in 2000, along with Kareena Kapoor Khan. Since then, the actor has come a long way, right from giving consecutive flops to doing a path-breaking film like ‘Guru’. Since the last few years, there’s been a major shift in terms of Bachchan’s choices and how he’s percieved. Be it ‘Breathe: Into The Shadows’ or ‘Ghoomer’, ‘I Want To Talk’ or ‘Dasvi’. As Abhishek completes 26 years in the industry today, when asked about the change in him as an actor, he said in an interview with ETimes, “The only thing that’s changed is I’m more comfortable. I think when I started out, there was a bit of discomfort. But now, I’m more comfortable being in front of the camera.” He added, “When you’re just being yourself and comfortable in your skin, that gives you clarity on decisions you need to take. I’m very clear today, or I would say in the last five to seven years, of what I don’t want to do at that point of time. Initially in your career there’s such excitement, there’s such insecurity about kaam milega, nahin milega, whatever comes your way you do.” Abhishek said that he’s very clear about the kind of work he wants to do today. “I’m clear at that point of time, at this point I don’t want to do this. That means I definitely want to do this. So, there’s a lot more conviction in that and that comes from a certain maturity and calmness. I think that helps in your work as well. We’re not all over the place anymore, I’d like to believe.” When further asked about not having any sense of insecurity, he said, “I’ve never been an insecure actor in terms of yeh kya kar raha hai. Insecure about my capabilities, yes. I think all actors are..about, ‘Will I be able to do this?'” Abhishek also added that the onus of how an actor performs lies on the director. During this throwback interview, the actor was also accompanied by Shoojit Sircar and when asked if he thought Abhishek did justice to his role in ‘I Want To Talk’, the actor quipped, “This is tricky, you can’t ask him that.” He added, “You can’t ask him that, because he okayed the take. It’s not me. Actors get the brickbats but it’s the director’s fault always (laughs). He’s the person who decides whether that’s good enough.” On work front, Abhishek is currently shooting for Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘King’. The actor was recently spotted at the airport with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya as they jetted out of the city.
