Lucknow: A delegation from the Noida International Airport on Tuesday presented the aerodrome licence issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, marking a key milestone toward the airport’s operational readiness.The delegation was led by airport’s chief executive officer Christoph Schnellmann. The officials the CM on the progress of the project and outlined the steps awaiting completion. Officials stated that following the issuance of the aerodrome licence, the final stages of regulatory processes are in motion. The airport’s aerodrome security programme is presently under review by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Once the security clearance is issued, the airport authorities will coordinate with relevant departments to confirm the date for the formal launch. Located in Jewar of Gautam Buddha Nagar, the Noida International Airport is being developed as a major greenfield project to enhance air connectivity for the National Capital Region and western Uttar Pradesh. Built with a blend of Swiss operational efficiency and Indian hospitality, the airport is progressing in four planned phases. In phase 1, one runway and a passenger terminal spanning around 1.38 lakh square meters have been constructed, designed to serve approximately 12 million passengers annually. The infrastructure includes check-in counters, security lanes, immigration facilities, aerobridges, and aircraft parking positions. A cargo hub and modern digital systems are also being integrated, with sustainability measures such as solar energy and rainwater harvesting.
