JAMMU: Army troops opened fire at a suspected Pakistani drone hovering over Indian territory along the Line of Control (LoC) in J&K’s Poonch district late Monday. The unmanned aerial vehicle returned towards Pakistan-occupied Kashmir after some time, officials said.“Around 10pm, alert personnel spotted the drone above some forward Indian posts along the LoC in the Area of Responsibility of the Army’s 22 JAK Rifles in Pajani area, in Balakote of Mendhar sector,” an official said Tuesday.Troops fired around nine rounds at the UAV but failed to hit the target as the drone was moving at a considerable height. It later returned to the PoK side.“Security forces launched a search operation early Tuesday to establish whether the drone had air-dropped any suspicious consignments during its flight over the area. Nothing as such was found on the ground,” the official said.
