INDORE : A viral video of a middle-aged woman being assaulted in Indore recently on suspicion of being a child-lifter evoked widespread fury, but, in a surprising twist, also reunited the victim with her family.The woman’s daughter in Meerut saw the clip circulating on social media and landed in Indore to bring back her mother, who had gone missing over a year-and-half ago.On Feb 6, 45-year-old Rekha Devi, a resident of Railway Road Colony in Meerut, was found wandering in Indore’s Jeet Nagar under the jurisdiction of Bhanwarkuan police station. Suspicious that she might be a childlifter, local residents attacked her.Her family said the deaths of her son and brother had taken a toll on her, and she just vanished one day without a trace, after which they had filed a missing complaint.
