New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi Tuesday advised new IAS trainees to regularly assess whether policies are effectively translating into outcomes on ground while emphasising the need to keep citizens at centre of governance.Interacting with 183 officer trainees from the IAS-2024 batch, currently serving as assistant secretaries across various ministries and departments, PM said that every administrative file carries the hopes, worries and lives of countless citizens. “He urged the officers to always remember the human impact behind every administrative file. He said that every file represents the aspirations, concerns, and lives of countless citizens,” said an official release from PMO.He said developmental challenges cannot be tackled in isolation and that coordination across depts is vital for results. Modi said after two years of field exposure and administrative learning, these officers stand at a crucial stage where their decisions will shape not just their own careers, but the future of crores of citizens. “He emphasised that the real test of public service begins by handling real-life situations with integrity, sensitivity, and commitment,” PM said.Emphasising the importance of data-driven governance, the PM said data must not be viewed merely as numbers but as a reflection of the collective lives, challenges, and aspirations of millions of people. He highlighted the growing role of women in nation-building, noting that over 40% of the current batch comprises women officers.
