Lucknow: Retired bureaucrat Awanish Kumar Awasthi, who was appointed adviser to the chief minister after his retirement in 2022, was given one-year extension and will continue in his present role until Feb 28, 2027.This ensures that Awasthi remains with the CM until the next state election, which is likely to be scheduled at the beginning of next year. Awasthi retired in Aug 2022 from the post of additional chief secretary and was assigned the role of adviser to the CM in Sept that year.
