LUCKNOW/AYODHYA: General secretary of the Ram temple trust in Ayodhya, Champat Rai, and trust member responsible for supervising the cash counting procedure Anil Mishra have tendered their resignation.Confirming the development, treasurer of the Ram temple trust Govind Dev Giri on Saturday noon issued a statement stating that the trust would take up the matter of the two office bearers in its upcoming meeting.Giri also assured Ram bhakts that the trust is determined to get to the bottom of things and assured the devotees that such incidents will not recur in the future.Putting speculations to rest, Giri also said that the ornaments, jewellery items and valuables such as gold and silver bricks are kept safely and details of all such items have been maintained in the books.Onwards June 25 (Thursday) evening, reports about resignation of the two office bearers started surfacing. Pressure started mounting on Rai and Mishra soon after the FIR was registered against the group of eight individuals who were involved with the cash counting process.FIR was lodged by Krishna Mohan, another trust member, on the same day, (June 25) , at around 7:20 pm. However, the duo remained tight-lipped and did not comment on the matter.With the two deciding to step down from the influential positions, criminal investigations into the entire matter would take place in a transparent manner.Giri said, “For the past few days I have been left in shock, remained upset and disturbed. As representative of the devotees of Ram, I am committed to reassure their faith in the Ram temple. The trust would take a decision on their resignation in the next meeting. I also want to assure all the devotees who have donated with open heart to the lord in the past, that proper records have been maintained and their gifts are completely secure with the us. I want to appeal to the devotees to not encourage rumour-mongering. I am sure that the dark clouds will disperse and the sun of truth will shine. Devotion to the lord will continue to flow unabated.”
