Lucknow: The team from Banaras Hindu University emerged victorious at the Association of Indian Universities National Moot Court Competition 2026, hosted by the Integral University, winning a cash prize of Rs 25,000 along with trophies and medals, while Chandigarh University secured the runner-up position with Rs 11,000.Among the special awards, Ram Manohar Lohia University won the Best Researcher award, Army Institute of Law secured Best Memorial, Lovely Professional University’s, Mallika Chadha won the Best Speaker award, while Aligarh Muslim University was recognised for inspiring excellence and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University and Lucknow University were recognised as best regional teams.Held from Apr 9-11, the competition brought together 40 teams from across India. Preliminary and quarter-final rounds took place on Apr 10, followed by a cultural evening featuring ghazals by Shailly Kapoor.Varun Chhachhar, Prof, LU, who was also a judge at the event, said, “Moot court competitions play a crucial role in shaping the professional persona of a lawyer, helping students develop advocacy skills, confidence and a deeper understanding of legal practice.”Dignitaries such as justice Faiz Alam and advocate AOR in supreme court, Anas Tanvir were also present on the occasion.
