Lucknow: Accusing the BJP of orchestrating a “quota scam” in govt recruitments to deprive the PDA community of its right to reservation, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday listed the appointment of 69,000 teachers and 22 other govt recruitments where due quota was not offered to deserving candidates.Akhilesh distributed a booklet containing details of 22 recruitments with statistics like total number of posts, seats reserved for OBCs, SCs and STs, and comparative figures of actual quota seats filled.The booklet contained details of recruitments of wildlife guards, Banda Agriculture University, recruitment of master/headmaster in aided junior high schools, village panchayat officer, eye testing officer, UPSSSC stenographer, Lakhimpur co-operative, veterinarian, lekhpal, medical education officer, and medical officer (Ayurveda).“The BJP govt in Uttar Pradesh, before the 2022 polls, admitted that 6,800 posts of reserved candidates were not filled up according to norms in the recruitment of 69,000 teachers and released an additional list for it. According to norms, the backward class candidates were entitled to 27% reservation but given 3.86% quota. They were robbed of a total of 23.14% reservation,” Akhilesh said.“Similarly, STs were entitled to 21% reservation but got 16.21% and were robbed of 4.8% reservation,” Akhilesh said.He accused the govt of leaving 1,133 posts of STs vacant. “A report of the National Backward Class Commission states that the PDA community was robbed of 20,000 reserved seats,” he said.Going by the govt statistics itself, as many as 7,933 reserved seats were robbed in the recruitment of 69,000 teachers, Akhilesh claimed.Akhilesh said SP would continue its fight against systematic denial of reservation and once voted to form the govt, it would ensure justice to candidates who appeared for recruitment of 69,000 teachers within 90 days. He said SP would also ensure caste census with the help of the latest technology.SP national general secretary Shivpal Yadav called upon the cadres to remain united and counter BJP’s conspiracies of misleading people and voters and strengthen the cadres at the booth level.Party’s national general secretary Kiranmoy Nanda, leader of the opposition in the state assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, and party national secretary Rajendra Chaudhary were also present.
