Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused the BJP of “misgovernance” and alleged that the ruling party was trying to “defame” the SP with unfounded charges.Addressing party workers at the SP headquarters, Akhilesh said the 2027 UP assembly elections would be “a battle of ballots to protect the Constitution and safeguard democracy”. Akhilesh said the faulty policies of BJP have led to rampant price rise and unemployment which has hit every section of society hard. “The BJP is rattled. Its leadership is desperate and panic-struck. They are levelling baseless allegations against the Samajwadi Party,” Akhilesh said. He further alleged that in UP, govt has shattered all previous records of corruption. “Loot is the order of the day. Every single project is riddled with corruption and commission. The budgetary allocations are not being spent on development but reach the BJP leaders,” he said. The former CM said the people of the state were fed-up of BJP’s politics of hate and the onus was now on the SP to bring the people out of this situation. He urged workers to aim for a victory “bigger than the 2022 Lok Sabha polls” and focus on maximising margins at every booth. Akhilesh urged the cadre to beware of the BJP conspiracies. “The BJP is known for conspiring to undermine democracy and the constitutional institutions. We have to be very alert with what we say and do and make sure that the BJP does not get an opportunity to go ahead with its propaganda politics,” Akhilesh said. He said world-over political parties spend funds to build their image. But the BJP spends funds to malign the image of its opponents.
