NEW DELHI: Rejecting the UP police probe into the Ayodhya donation case, Congress Friday demanded a Supreme Court-monitored investigation into the “massive embezzlement” in the Ram Mandir trust which, it claimed, ran into thousands of crores. It alleged that BJP govt wanted to let off the real culprits who occupied high positions by placing responsibility for the scam on lowly placed employees. It asserted that the scam went beyond trust general secretary Champat Rai to much higher persons. AICC spokesperson and MP Rajeev Shukla said the trust should be disbanded and its reins handed over to religious leaders like Shankaracharyas. “Earlier they (BJP) looted votes in the name of Lord Ram, now they are looting notes in the name of Lord Ram,” he said.
