Lucknow: Attacking the BJP over ‘chadhawa-chanda chori’ (theft of donation and offerings) at Ram temple in Ayodhya, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said that “BJP’s ‘Lanka Kand’ will take place in Ayodhya itself”.Lanka Kand is the sixth chapter of the Hindu epic Ramcharitmanas which describes the war in which Lord Ram defeated and killed the demon king Ravan – the ultimate victory of ‘dharma’ over ‘adharma’.“Those who only worship donations have been unmasked because Lord Ram’s divine powers have done the miracle. Now, the BJP functionaries’ gleaming kingdom of arrogance will also perish like Lanka did and so will the ‘Lankapati’ (the top boss),” Akhilesh wrote on X in Hindi shortly after eight people associated with the counting of donations and offerings at Ram temple in Ayodhya were arrested and sent to jail on charges of embezzlement.Akhilesh took a dig at the BJP over reports that Ram Temple Teerth Kshetra Trust general secretary Champat Rai, who is also the vice-president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), has resigned. “BJP always boasted that its functionaries don’t resign. What happened now,” he asked. The SP chief went on to state that this was just the first chapter of BJP and its associates’ long list of black deeds will follow.”Now the party, Sangh, Sabha, Parishad, Vahini and Trust fight over sharing (the embezzled funds) and in the process will expose each other. Before these people stuff their share in ‘jhola’ and try to flee, the (country’s) borders should be sealed,” Akhilesh wrote.“This is just the beginning. Now the ‘care fund’ and along with it the unregistered people will have to give detailed accounts of what all they have committed,” Akhilesh said, apparently referring to the PM Cares Fund and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). “BJP will not be able to escape from God’s audits,” Akhilesh said.Akhilesh took on chief minister Yogi Adityanath on the statement that the govt will probe ‘threadbare’ the allegations of misappropriation of donation at Ram Temple. He said the theft of donation was not only a one-off incident but was rampant and happening at a large scale. He said it was not only about cash donations, but jewellery and precious metals donated by the devotees have also been misappropriated. He said the much-hyped CCTV coverage of the premises actually failed to check the theft of donations and should now be renamed as ‘chadhawa chori (donation theft) TV. “Those who robbed the donation boxes 70 times in 40 days will now find a permanent mention in black bold letters in the annals of history for seven incarnations to come,” Akhikesh said, quoting media reports which said the accused were found stealing money 70 times in 40 days of CCTV footage.
