LUCKNOW: A bomb threat triggered panic and a massive security operation at Aishbagh Railway Station in Lucknow on Monday after authorities received information about a suspected explosive device on the Thiruvananthapuram–Gorakhpur Raptisagar Express (12512). The alert, however, turned out to be a hoax after an intensive search found no suspicious object.The incident came to light shortly after the train arrived at Aishbagh station around 10 am. The Raptisagar Express connects Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala with Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and passes through 59 scheduled halts during its journey.According to official sources, a passenger in his early 20s travelling in the S2 coach informed the RPF control room that he had overheard three men discussing the planting of a bomb when the train made an unscheduled halt near Ajgain railway station in Unnao district.Acting on the information, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), dog squad, and bomb disposal squad immediately launched a comprehensive search operation. Security personnel thoroughly checked coaches, luggage compartments, and other areas of the train for nearly an hour.No explosive material or suspicious object was found during the search, following which authorities declared the alert false. The train was subsequently cleared to continue its journey.Lucknow Police said the passenger who reported the threat is being questioned by the GRP as part of the ongoing investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alert.The Raptisagar Express departed Aishbagh station at 11.30 am, running one hour and 13 minutes behind schedule due to the security checks. Authorities said the matter remains under investigation.
