Lucknow: To mark the visit of BJP president Nitin Nabin to the state capital, a roadshow was organised from the airport to party headquarters on Saturday.Some party workers stood on a bulldozer from where they showered petals on the BJP chief.As part of the itinerary planned by newly inducted state vice-president of the party, Neeraj Singh, the BJP president travelled on a specially designed motorised chariot, which covered a distance of 18 km, and was welcomed at around 40 places by party workers. His motorcade virtually crawled as party cadres jostled to meet and greet him.“As many as 43 welcome points were created to welcome the BJP president on his first visit to Lucknow. Efforts were made to present BJP’s all-inclusive roadmap for the Assembly polls as the welcome points were represented by members of people from all communities,” Neeraj told TOI.Some Muslim women also stood with garland of 403 lotus flowers (symbolising 403 seats of the UP Assembly) as they welcomed the BJP president near Hind Nagar.BJP workers, members of various social organisations, and others welcomed him by showering flowers and presenting garlands. Cultural performances were organised while workers shouted slogans.Chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’, ‘Vande Mataram’, and ‘Bharatiya Janata Party zindabad’ echoed at various spots along the route.More than 20 big welcome arches were erected along the route, adorned with BJP flags and floral decorations. Representatives from various communities presented their emblems to the BJP chief.Lucknow North MLA Neeraj Bora offered ‘jhalmuri’ to the BJP chief as a symbolic gesture to congratulate him over the party’s win in the crucial West Bengal elections recently.Outside Lok Bhavan, the OBC Morcha of the BJP welcomed Nabin by offering him a massive floral garland, raised to a height of approximately 40 feet with the help of a crane.
