NEW DELHI: CBI has filed an FIR against Raminder Singh Wadhwa, a former Navy Captain for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income between 2010 and 2020.Wadhwa had served in National Security Council Secretariat and Directorate of Naval Design, which oversees warship and submarine design for the Navy, besides being posted at other sensitive places like Directorate of Network Centric Operations and the naval dockyard in Mumbai.According to the FIR filed under Prevention of Corruption Act, Wadhwa and his family allegedly amassed assets which were 46% more than their legitimate and declared income. “In April 2010, Wadhwa and his family had three immovable assets valued at Rs 2.25 crore and Rs 5.93 crore in bank balances. By March 2020, the family had acquired seven additional immovable assets valued at Rs 6.2 crore,” the FIR said, accusing Wadhwa of being involved in corrupt practices.Wadhwa also constructed a farmhouse on land bought by him in Panchkula in 2011, it was alleged. “The quantum of disproportionate assets is likely to increase once expenditures are also considered,” the FIR stated.
