Lucknow: From the courage of policemen confronting danger to the quiet sacrifices made away from the spotlight, the human story behind the uniform of Uttar Pradesh Police found a musical voice on Friday as chief minister Yogi Adityanath launched the UP Police anthem ‘Khaki Ka Sitara’ at Lok Bhawan.The anthem seeks to capture the force’s valour, service and commitment to duty while highlighting the resilience, sensitivity and personal sacrifices of personnel who serve the public under challenging circumstances.Voiced and composed by Shankar Mahadevan and featuring a special narration by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, the anthem highlights the courage, sacrifices, sensitivity and sense of public service behind the khaki uniform. The lyrics were penned by writer-poet Alok Shrivastava, while the concept and creative direction were led by PRO to the UP DGP, Rahul Srivastava.Actor Karan Anand features in the video, directed by Amit Sonkar, with Praveen Talan and Ashish Ramesh Pandey as DOPs.A cybercrime awareness film starring Nana Patekar and directed by Raj Shandilyaa was also screened to promote awareness about cyber fraud and safe digital practices.DGP Rajeev Krishna said the anthem goes beyond celebrating police achievements and seeks to tell the story of the human behind the uniform.“It highlights the courage, discipline, sensitivity and dedication of thousands of personnel who serve society every day without expecting anything in return,” he said.Calling the project a privilege, Shankar Mahadevan dedicated the song to the CM and the entire UP Police family.Nana Patekar praises UP’s law-and-order transformationActor Nana Patekar lauded the improvement in Uttar Pradesh’s law-and-order situation, saying security in a state as large and diverse as UP requires strong leadership, modern technology, resources and a capable police force.Congratulating CM Yogi Adityanath, he said the transformation in the state’s policing and law-and-order landscape was clearly visible.“The more modern the police force, the safer the citizen; and the more aware the citizen, the harder it becomes for criminals,” Patekar said, while expressing the film industry’s willingness to collaborate with UP Police on social awareness and crime-prevention campaigns.
