Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday directed officials to immediately carry out a review of crop damage due to unseasonal rain and hail experienced in several parts of the state over the past few days so that compensation can be issued at the earliest.“Govt stands firmly with the people of the state. Crops have been affected by recent rain. Compensation for those losses is already being provided,” Yogi said during a review meeting. He sought a report from district magistrates concerned about the impact on the rain on farmers. With rain and thundershowers likely to continue till April 5, and warning for thundersquall and hailstorm in some areas on April 4 and 5, the CM directed all districts to remain on alert. The departments of revenue and agriculture, along with insurance companies, will be conducting a joint survey and submit their report to govt at the earliest. DMs were directed to be present on the field during the survey so that a proper assessment of losses can be made. The CM also instructed the principal secretary, agriculture, and the relief commissioner to remain in touch with field officials. “The process of distribution of compensation will begin as soon as govt gets a consolidated report of the losses,” the CM added.
