Lucknow: The Congress on Thursday alleged serious lapses in emergency response and relief efforts following a fire in a slum cluster in Khurramnagar, claiming that fire services reached the spot nearly three hours after the blaze broke out.A party delegation led by Aradhana Mishra Mona visited the affected area a day after the incident to assess the situation and meet victims. She also met families impacted by the incident, including one that reportedly lost children in the fire.Interacting with reporters, she said: “Residents told us that no immediate govt assistance had reached them even a day after the fire, and carcasses of animals killed in the blaze were still lying at the site. Many of them said that the fire brigade arrived late despite the locality being situated near a highway.”She also raised concerns over the absence of timely administrative support and relief arrangements for those affected. Highlighting the need for urgent assistance, Mishra announced a contribution of Rs1 lakh from her side to support the victims.She added that the Congress would send relief material to the affected families.
