Lucknow: Acting on a real-time alert from Meta, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) police rescued an 18-year-old, class 12 student within 12 minutes after he allegedly posted a suicide video on Instagram.According to police, the incident occurred on Mar 29, when the student, a resident of the Mill Area police station limits in Raebareli, shared a distressing video consuming rat poison. In the post, he expressed emotional distress following a breakup with his girlfriend and wrote messages indicating his intent to end his life.At around 8:58pm, Meta flagged the content and sent an alert via email to the social media centre at the UP police headquarters. Acting swiftly, officials traced the student’s mobile number and location and alerted the Raebareli police.Following instructions from director general of police Rajeev Krishna, a police team reached the student’s residence within 12 minutes and found him in severe distress, with an empty packet of rat poison and a water bottle nearby.The police, along with family members, rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was treated, and his condition is now stable.
