JAMMU: In a major breakthrough, J&K police busted a long-standing narcotics network with alleged cross-border links by arresting notorious gangster and drug kingpin Gulzar Ahmed alias Lau Gujjar, who was also wanted in multiple criminal cases.Senior superintendent of police, Jammu, Joginder Singh told reporters that Gujjar had been supplying narcotics in bulk across the region and evading arrest for 10 to 12 years.“Credible evidence has surfaced indicating his cross-border linkages extending from Jammu to Punjab and Pakistan, suggesting his involvement in an organized criminal/terror network. He allegedly procured heroin from cross borders through drone droppings,” Singh said.“A Pakistan-made pistol was recovered from his possession at the time of his arrest on April 4,” the police officer said, adding that three of his associates were also arrested and more than 700gms of heroin was seized.Gujjar is a history-sheeter and involved in multiple criminal cases registered at various police stations across Jammu, Singh said. “During questioning, his associates revealed that he may be named in around 100 FIRs across the country,” Singh said.A special investigation team has been constituted to probe the case.
