TNNLucknow: Chief secretary SP Goyal on Wednesday reviewed preparations for Census-2027 and directed officials to focus on self-enumeration by citizens for more accurate results.Phase 1 of the census, which includes House Listing and the Housing Census, will be conducted between May 22 and June 20, 2026. The chief secretary said training of enumerators and supervisors must be completed before this, and strict action should be taken against personnel absent during training. “Under the self-enumeration process, citizens can enter their family details on the online portal themselves. People should be encouraged to fill out the online self-enumeration form through extensive publicity,” he said.Director, census operations, Sheetal Verma said residents of Uttar Pradesh will be able to fill the self-enumeration form between May 7 and May 21, 2026. She added that mapping work has been completed in 31 districts, while in 33 districts it has reached 98% to 99.99%.Discussing the farmer registry, the CSdirected district magistrates to encourage farmers to register, but not to force anyone.He also directed all district magistrates to prepare a Heat Action Plan at the district level. “Considering the summer season, water kiosks should be set up at public places as required. Additionally, a comprehensive public awareness campaign should be conducted regarding heatwave risks and preventive measures,” he said.
