Lucknow: Accusing BJP of adopting the “CMP formula” (create mistrust and fear) to divide women population for electoral gains, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said the delimitation and women’s reservation amendment bill were aimed to deprive women from the PDA (Pichrde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) community, which forms 95% of their total population.“BJP’s CMF formula will not work as people have started seeing through their designs. This is the reason why it has started losing now. The Delimitation bill not making through Parliament means govt has lost the trust of the people and the faith of the majority is with the opposition,” Akhilesh said at a press conference at SP headquarters. He said with the women’s bill, BJP wanted to divide the women populace in the country, but the attempt failed miserably. “BJP tries to create division in society by telling a section of populace that you are under threat from the other group. The idea is to make one section vote for them out of fear and the divide helps them electorally,” Akhilesh said.“The bill would have deprived the women from the PDA women of their due, despite they comprising 95% of the total population of women. BJP wanted to use TV serial politics to divide women in real life. BJP has a feudal mindset when it comes to women,” Akhilesh said.He said the SP has never been against women reservation but against the hasty manner in which the women quota bill was being pushed through. “We supported the Women’s Reservation Bill 2023 and it has now taken the shape of an Act. What was tabled during this special session of Parliament was delimitation bill. Govt can announce reservation on present total strength of MPs — which is 543. We are in favour of giving the women their due. We only want that women from the backwards and Muslims community are not left out,” Akhilesh emphasised. In an apparent reference to instances of moral policing by saffron brigade, generally associated with the BJP, Akhilesh said the BJP does not want women to have the right to choose. “The right to decide how they dress and so on. They go around parks and restaurants trying to forcibly heap customs and culture they want to. Bill not being able to make through Parliament is BJP’s defeat and defeat of its ill intentions,” the SP chief said.BOXSP chief gifts copper utensils to tea stall ownerAkhilesh Yadav presented before the media Aryan Yadav, a tea stall owner from Fatehpur whose outlet was sealed by the authorities a day after he posted a video of SP chief stopping at his stall to enjoy a cup of tea on his visit to the district recently. Aryan said his stall was sealed for using aluminium utensils, which was in violation of the law. Akhilesh gifted Aryan a set of copper utensils and expressed hope that action would be taken against those who were harassing the tea stall owner.
