Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said there will be no compromise on standards, quality and timeliness in development works.Reviewing the PWD’s action plan for the year 2026-27 through video conferencing with DMs, ministers and public representatives from all districts, the CM said development proposals should be prepared according to local requirements from every district and sent within one week. “The action plan will receive govt approval in the first week of June. For this, district magistrates should hold meetings with public representatives and finalize development plans on a priority basis.”“Bhoomi pujan and foundation stone laying ceremonies for development works should be conducted only by the public representatives concerned,” Yogi said.He said public representatives are not responsible for departmental shortcomings or mistakes of contractors. Ensuring the quality of development works and completing works within the fixed timeline is the responsibility of departmental officers.“Connectivity and strong infrastructure are the lifeline of economic progress for any state. Roads, bridges and connecting routes are not just means of transportation, but also mediums for boosting trade, employment and social development,” he said.He directed officials to avoid the tendency of ‘pick and choose’ while preparing proposals and to give equal importance to the needs of every area. The CM told DMs and CDOs to appoint a nodal officer for every project being carried out in the district, who will regularly monitor the progress of work and ensure quality.Yogi termed helipad construction as necessary in view of emergency situations. “Helipads prove extremely useful during natural disasters, health emergencies or other crisis situations. They should be built near every block, tehsil and district headquarters,” he said.Referring to the impact of global conditions on the availability of fuel and bitumen, the Chief Minister directed PWD to adopt technical innovations. The CM directed that quality CC roads should be constructed on rural roads up to 2km as per requirement.Praising the urban development department’s “CM Grid” scheme, Yogi said it is an important initiative to strengthen urban connectivity, but there is a need to increase its pace further. He said the Urban Development Department should prepare proposals according to local needs and ensure better roads and connectivity reach every mohalla and colony of the state.PWD officials informed the CM that under 17 heads of the department, more than 30,000 proposals have been received so far for the current financial year 2026-2027.The CM directed that priorities should be fixed for all proposals and schemes should be implemented on the ground in a phased and time-bound manner so that the benefits of development can reach the last person.
