Lucknow: Director general of police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna conducted a comprehensive zonal-level crime review meeting in Mirzapur, focusing on strengthening law enforcement strategies and enhancing public safety across the Vindhyachal and Varanasi zones.The high-level meeting was attended by senior police officials, including the ADG Zone Varanasi, Inspector Generals/Deputy Inspector Generals of Vindhyachal and Varanasi ranges, Superintendents of Police from both ranges and other senior officers.During the review, the DGP undertook a detailed assessment of key policing areas, including action against cow smuggling, ongoing operations against criminals and organised gangs, and the implementation of crime control measures on the ground. Special emphasis was laid on the progress of Mission Shakti, a flagship initiative aimed at ensuring women’s safety and empowerment.The meeting also focused on the increasing role of technology in policing. Officers discussed the effective use of the Yaksh App in tracking criminals and solving cases, as well as strategies to curb cybercrime through improved surveillance and public awareness campaigns. The DGP further reviewed the utilisation of electronic evidence (e-evidence) in investigations to strengthen prosecution outcomes.In addition, the status of public grievance redressal systems was examined, with directions to ensure prompt, transparent and quality disposal of complaints to build public trust.Addressing the officers, DGP Rajeev Krishna reiterated the state govt’s policy of zero tolerance towards crime, directing strict and consistent action against offenders. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a sensitive, courteous and citizen-friendly approach while dealing with the public.
