Lucknow: Diet and lifestyle changes are key to tackling fatty liver disease and obesity, said experts at SGPGIMS on Saturday during an awareness programme on the World Liver Day.Organised by the institute’s department of hepatology, the event titled “Fatty Liver & Obesity: Real Stories, Real Solutions” brought together patients, caregivers and health care professionals. The programme aligned with this year’s theme, “Solid Habits, Strong Liver,” and focused on the growing public health burden of lifestyle-linked liver disease.Head of the department, Amit Goel, highlighted the rising prevalence of fatty liver disease and its strong association with unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyles. Dietary experts outlined practical meal plans and stressed the role of balanced nutrition in improving liver health.Real-life patient experiences formed a key part of the session,Doctors underlined that regular exercise, healthy eating and routine check-ups can help reverse or manage the condition. An interactive segment allowed participants to seek advice and share their concerns.As part of the outreach, a poster-making competition on liver health was organised at Kendriya Vidyalaya SGPGIMS.BOXCME heldThe crucial aspect of nutrition in critically ill patients was discussed at a continuing medical education programme organised by Critical Care Medicine department, SGPGI. “The programme focused on highlighting malnutrition among hospitalised patients as a key contributor to morbidity and mortality. Topics like immune nutrition, disease centric diets like those for liver failure or cancer were also discussed,” said a spokesperson. who added that delegates learnt from experts from KGMU, RMLIMS and Era University.
