Lucknow: A brother-sister duo in UP’s Deoria district drew attention to a long-pending civic issue with an emotional appeal to the district administration through a video that went viral on social media. The appeal drew a favourable response from the district magistrate.In the video, Class I boy Shivang Pandey and his sister Shivangi Pandey from Class IV in a private school urge the district magistrate to repair a damaged road near their house. “DM uncle, this road is very dirty. The road gets dirtier when it rains. It spoils our shoes and uniforms. Please get our road repaired,” the siblings said.The video then recorded the poor condition of the road near their house. Residents said the stretch has been in a dilapidated condition for some time, with frequent waterlogging making movement difficult for pedestrians and school children.Urging the DM to fix the road, the children in the video said, “Please, please get this road repaired.”DM Deoria Madhusudan Hulgi said, “This is a 160 mt stretch in Rudrapur nagar panchayat. The tender to re-construct the road is complete. Very soon, the children will not have to face any problem.”
