Lucknow: Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) will introduce multidisciplinary courses (MDCs) under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from the 2026-27 academic session, offering students a more flexible learning experience.Under the new system, students will not be restricted to their core subject and be able to explore other areas based on their interests. For instance, science students can opt for subjects from the arts or social sciences. Students without prior knowledge of Sanskrit can also choose courses such as astrology. Each department will offer at least four MDCs, providing a wide range of options. These courses will be compulsory for the first three semesters, with each carrying three credits. The courses will include journalism training, digital marketing, globalisation, taxation, and awareness of rights and law.“The aim is to make learning more practical, skill-based and useful. By exploring different subjects, students can build new skills, discover hidden interests and improve career opportunities,” vice-chancellor Prof Sanjay Singh said.
