The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here and the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai are learnt to be in the reckoning to host the Duleep Trophy final from Sept. 6 to 10.
Originally scheduled to be held behind closed doors at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) herein the outskirts of Bengaluru, the BCCI is understood to have explored the possibility of playing at least the final in front of an audience.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has expressed its readiness to host the marquee match and the BCCI has also sounded out Chennai as an alternative venue.
The move follows BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia’s recent assurance, wherein he said that the governing body would try its best to conduct the summit clash in front of fans.
The opening two rounds of the tournament will go on as per schedule at the CoE, from Aug. 23 to 26 and Aug. 30 to September 2, respectively, without supporters.
