Emilia Clarke may be the ‘mother of dragons’ in one of television’s biggest franchises – ‘Game of Thrones’ – but even that could not prevent her from some rather big ticket flops over the years. Following her turn in the epic fantasy saga, the actress has seen some hits and misses on both film and television formats. However, her turn is some major franchises, ranging from ‘Star Wars’ to Marvel has left a bad taste. In an interview with Variety, the actress, who is currently riding high on the success of her spy thriller ‘Ponies’, opened up about the mixed and often negative reception to several major projects she has been a part of, including ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, ‘Terminator Genisys’ and Marvel’s ‘Secret Invasion’. While all three productions arrived with significant expectations, they ultimately failed to win over critics and fans.Looking back at her career graph, she addressed the response to ‘Secret Invasion’ and defended the series saying, “I don’t think no one liked that show, guys. I’m sorry!”She went on to add, “”Star Wars’? They didn’t like it. ‘Terminator’? That should never have happened,” she admitted. However, she went on to acknowledge, “But these were jobs I said yes to, you know what I mean?”Clarke starred as Sarah Connor in 2015’s ‘Terminator Genisys’, a film that received a lukewarm response from critics despite its ambitious attempt to revive the iconic sci-fi franchise. She also played the role of G’iah in the MCU show, and her character went on to become one of the most powerful heroes, wielding the combined abilities of multiple Marvel heroes and villains who shed blood in ‘Avengers: Endgame’. However, there is no new update about her role in any upcoming MCU films or series. She also joined the Star Wars universe as Qi’ra in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’, which underperformed at the box office. Speaking about the character, she teased, “That Millennium Falcon has sailed. But, there’s a lot of fans who have told me personally [laughs] that they would like to see her again. So we shall see.”When asked if the receptions to her projects were disappointing, the actress said, “I entered into already existing franchises, so when they don’t work out, it’s not personal.”
