Lucknow: Justifying the recent expulsion of some big names from the party, BSP national president Mayawati on Friday said that those who had been expelled from the party so far, irrespective of their community, had primarily exploited the party for their personal and familial gains while remaining largely inactive and indifferent to the interests of their own communities and the party.“Some of them have joined other parties due to their personal interests, or the ruling party to escape accountability for their misdeeds. They had also failed to connect their own communities with the BSP, which is contrary to the party’s expectations. The party has suffered significant losses in several previous elections,” said the BSP chief.The BSP has expelled several prominent leaders since the start of this month, including former Rajya Sabha MP and national convener Akash Anand’s father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth; former national coordinator of the party, Randhir Singh Beniwal and former health minister in the Mayawati govt between 2007 and 2011 and Brahmin leader, Anant Kumar Mishra.Mayawati, in her post on X, said that the BSP is a party with a distinct identity that operates on the policies and principles of “welfare and happiness of all” and in accordance with the true intent of the Constitution, rather than being overly attached to any particular individual from any section of society.Meanwhile, she also sought strict action from the Uttarakhand government against the “casteist and feudal elements” who had purified the stage after an event attended by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Haldwani.“It is highly condemnable and concerning, and the government should take appropriate action under strict laws against such casteist and feudal elements and send them to jail,” she said, adding that the RSS chief should also take cognisance of the incident and think seriously about it.
