Lucknow: Department of Gynaecological Oncology at King George’s Medical University performed its first robotic surgery on a 25-year-old woman with a 10×10 cm ovarian tumour, marking a step forward in advanced surgical care at the institute. The procedure was led by Prof Nisha Singh, head of the department.Doctors said robotic surgery would be particularly useful for treating endometrial cancer, ovarian tumour in young women, endometriosis and infertility-related conditions.The surgery was carried out at Shatabdi SSI Mantra OT with support of Dr Tarini Sonwani, Dr Astha Chauhan, anaesthetist Dr Deepali and the nursing team.
