England’s innings got off to a record-low start in the second T20I against India at Old Trafford on Saturday, as both their openers were dismissed for ducks for the first time in a T20I innings.Chasing 191, England were rocked in the very first over by left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh, who removed both Phil Salt and Jos Buttler without allowing either batter to score.Salt fell to the first ball of the innings after edging a short-of-a-length delivery outside off stump to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. The extra bounce surprised the opener, who was caught behind.Arshdeep struck again four balls later when Buttler’s well-timed flick off a full delivery found Varun Chakaravarthy at mid-wicket. Buttler appeared to have hit the ball cleanly but picked out the fielder, leaving England two down with just one run on the board.It was the first time in England’s T20I history that both openers had been dismissed for ducks in the same innings.Earlier, India posted 190 for seven after being asked to bat.The match also marked the international debut of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became India’s youngest international cricketer at 15 years and 99 days, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record.The teenager scored 14 off 10 balls, including two sixes, before being dismissed.Abhishek Sharma gave India a quick start with 43 off 24 deliveries. Ishan Kishan then made 49 off 40 balls, while captain Shreyas Iyer contributed 37 off 22. Kishan and Iyer added 65 runs for the third wicket to steady the innings.Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 24 off 11 balls to help India reach a competitive total.For England, left-arm pacer Sam Curran was the most successful bowler with figures of three for 33.
