Lucknow: Four passengers were injured after a private bus travelling from Ayodhya to Rae Bareli lost control, hit a road divider and plunged into a deep roadside ditch in Amethi’s Jagdishpur area late Tuesday night.The accident occurred near Mangauli village on the Rae Bareli-Ayodhya road under Jagdishpur police station limits. The bus was reportedly travelling at high speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle.According to eyewitnesses, the bus first rammed into the divider before veering off the road and falling into the deep ditch alongside the highway.The crash triggered panic among passengers and local residents. On receiving information, Jagdishpur police reached the spot and, with the help of passers-by and villagers, rescued the passengers trapped inside the bus.Four injured passengers were subsequently taken to the Jagdishpur Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors said they had sustained minor injuries and were out of danger.Jagdishpur SHO Dhirendra Yadav said the damaged bus had been taken into police custody and the driver detained for questioning.Police are investigating whether excessive speed caused the accident or whether another factor led to the driver losing control of the bus. Statements of witnesses are also being recorded.
