NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress’ West Bengal unit president Chandrima Bhattacharya on Saturday resigned from all party posts amid the ongoing exodus of leaders from the party.Chandrima, a close aide of Mamata Banerjee, was appointed president of the party’s West Bengal unit after the TMC suffered heavy losses in the assembly elections in May.Following the defeat, Mamata dissolved all existing party committees and restructured the organisation.TMC split into factions led by Mamata Banerjee and leader of the opposition Ritabrata Banerjee in the state assembly.Meanwhile, 20 of TMC’s 28 Lok Sabha MPs also merged with the little-known National Citizens’ Party of India and pledged support to the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.
