Lucknow: Governor Anandiben Patel, who is also chancellor of the state universities, on Wednesday directed authorities of the Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya to upgrade its auditoriums, including the Kala Mandapam, located on the campus, and improve services provided to the students, particularly hostellers.The directions were issued during the annual convocation of the university held at Kala Mandapam. Patel could not attend the convocation, but deputed her officer on special duty (OSD), SM Bobde, to read out her message. The deficiencies were noted during an inspection of the university and interaction with students by Jan Bhawan officials a few days ago.The governor said the university should ensure that auditoriums are in good shape and have all the facilities for academic and cultural events. She also asked the administration to create a dedicated parking area for vehicles. At the women’s hostel, she directed authorities to provide washing machines and store rooms in the hostel mess and improve residential facilities in hostels.Patel also directed authorities to check quality of food, particularly milk and paneer, before serving to students. She said that the inspection also found inadequate fire safety measures. The university was also asked to make all CCTV cameras functional. Authorities were also told to improve library facilities and extend timings to facilitate longer study hours for students.New campus at Kakrabad soon: MinisterUP culture and tourism minister Jaiveer Singh on Wednesday announced the allotment of 14 acres of land at Kakrabad, Lucknow, for the second campus of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (BSV). The proposed campus will feature a heritage zone, housing a Museum of Indian Performing Arts, manuscript preservation and oral history archives, a national digital repository, and a dedicated centre for documentation of folk and tribal traditions, among other things.
