Lucknow: Under Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, department of social welfare ensured the marriage of over 1.8 lakh couples from OBC families. An official from the department said marriages of 1,80,017 couples from OBC families were solemnised over the past nine years. In 2025-26, a total of 26,286 OBC couples were married under the scheme.Under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana, financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh is being provided to each couple, of which, Rs 60,000 is transferred directly to the bride’s bank account, while Rs 25,000 is spent on gifts and household goods. Govt spends Rs 15,000 on organising the ceremony, reducing thereby the financial burden on poor families and helping girls get married with dignity, the official said.
