Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court on Thursday sought the UP govt’s response on the petition challenging the order by the Inspector General of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) directing an inquiry into the running of madrasas in Uttar Pradesh due to allegations of foreign funding. The petition, filed by association of teachers of UP madrasas, challenges the probe order on the ground that there was no evidence of foreign funding for these madrasas.IG (ATS) on Dec 9 last year directed the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to conduct an inquiry into the running of madrasas in UP.On behalf of the state, it was submitted that the writ petition is premature as only a direction for an inquiry has been given. The bench of Justice Arindam Sinha and Justice Satya Veer Singh set May 4 as the next hearing date.
