Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on Saturday with patriotic fervour, with the court complex illuminated and decorated with tricolour lights and flowers.Senior judge of the Lucknow bench, justice Rajan Roy, hoisted the national flag during the ceremony. The flag-hoisting was followed by the singing of Vande Mataram and the national anthem, along with a musical performance by the PAC band.Later, Justice Roy, accompanied by other judges, their spouses and retired judges, paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at his bust.Among those present on the occasion were the senior registrar, officers and staff of the high court registry, additional advocates general for UP, chief standing counsels, govt advocates, special counsels and office-bearers of the Awadh Bar Association.
