Lucknow: Brief showers, cloudy skies and gusty winds on Thursday afternoon brought relief from sultry conditions prevailing since morning.Light to moderate rain was reported from several parts of the city during the afternoon and evening, while Sarojininagar and Gomti Nagar received heavier spells.India Meteorological Department (IMD) said light to moderate rain is likely to continue over the next few days. Rain activity is expected to pick up from Jul 27, with widespread showers likely across Lucknow and many parts of UP.On Thursday, maximum temperature settled at 32.5 degrees Celsius, a one unit below normal, while minimum was 27 degrees Celsius, more than a unit above normal. Relative humidity remained between 65% and 92%.The weather office has forecast a maximum and minimum temperature on Friday to hover around 33 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.Senior scientist, regional meteorological centre, Lucknow, Mohammad Danish, said, “Rains across several parts of the city were because of local phenomenon with moisture laden easterly wind causing precipitation. Widespread rains, however, are likely from Jul 27, as a fresh system will give pace to monsoon activity.”
