Lucknow: The gradual rise in temperature continued in the city on Thursday, with the maximum nearly touching 40 degrees Celsius. Adding to residents’ discomfort was high relative humidity, which made it feel like 42 degrees Celsius.While the maximum temperature recorded was 39.3 degrees Celsius, the minimum settled at 28.6 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity levels remained as high as 68%.The India Meteorological Department has predicted mainly clear sky on Friday. The cloud cover will increase during the day, followed by some thundery development. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 40 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius, respectively.Mohammad Danish, senior scientists at IMD, said the humid weather is due to elevated moisture content in the atmosphere owing to recent rainfall activity. Both day and night temperatures will increase in the coming days, with slight possibility of thunderstorm with wind speed 40-50 km per hour, he added.Banda was the hottest place in UP on Thursday at 42.2 degrees Celsius, followed by Varanasi 42 degrees and Jhansi 41.9 degrees.
