Bengaluru: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement that Indian Institute of Management Bangalore will set up a campus in Indonesia, IIM-B said that it will execute its offerings in two phases, beginning with short-duration executive education programmes (EEPs) in Phase 1, followed by the degree-granting programmes in Phase 2.As per plans, the IIMB (Singhasari) campus in Indonesia will offer EEPs designed for senior leaders and professionals preparing for leadership roles. Its curriculum will combine core management disciplines with areas such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, global supply chains, climate and sustainability and healthcare.Candidates in Indonesia will have access to IIMB’s repository of massive open online courses (MOOCs) in addition to its in-class offerings. IIMB is the designated nodal agency for management education in Swayam. The initiative will strengthen research collaborations, faculty development, consulting engagements and policy partnerships as well as student exchanges and industry engagement across Indonesia and the wider ASEAN region, said the institute.“IIMB acknowledges the support extended by the Government of India and the Government ofIndonesia in advancing this initiative and facilitating the establishment of the campus,” read a statement from the B-school.On July 7, 2026, at a joint press statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Modi said: “We are going to establish a campus of India’s prestigious management institute, IIM Bangalore, in Indonesia, which will greatly benefit the youth across the entire ASEAN region”.The announcement is based recently signed MoU between IIM Bangalore and the Singhasari Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where the international campus is expected to be located. The agreement was signed on July 6 at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs in Jakarta with Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director-in-charge and Prof. Jitamitra Desai, Professor and Member, Board of Governors representing IIM Bangalore.Prof. U. Dinesh Kumar stated that this partnership will create a significant impact by developing a leadership pool that will lead not only companies in Indonesia but also global corporations.Prof. Desai stated, “With our significant strength in management education and research, IIMB is well positioned to deliver high-quality, high-reputation management programs and make Indonesia a global hub in business education. We believe that this program will lead to significantly improved employment opportunities for Indonesian citizens and expatriates alike and push the envelope in making the Global South region the preferred destination for both quality education and business leadership.”
