Lucknow: Various infrastructure projects, including new terminals, expansion and land acquisition, are progressing at full pace across several airports in Uttar Pradesh, according to the state’s Civil Aviation Department.At Gorakhpur Airport, plans for a new civil terminal are moving forward following the transfer of 42.14 acres of Indian Air Force land under an agreement signed in June 2025 between the UP govt, the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and the Ministry of Defence. Officials said asset relocation work related to the project has largely been completed. The airport currently handles an average of 12 flights a day.In Agra, construction of a new civil terminal is in progress. A total of 144.5 acres of land has been made available for the project, including 92.5 acres acquired subsequently. According to officials, the construction work is about 60% complete.Kanpur Airport’s new civil terminal, built on 50 acres of land provided by the state govt, is operational. The terminal was developed by the AAI at an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore. Officials said a proposal to acquire around 100 additional acres for future expansion is under consideration.At Aligarh Airport, expansion plans are underway after development work was completed in 2024. The state govt has approved Rs 738.6 crore for the acquisition of 275.74 hectares of land. Most of the land has reportedly been acquired, while the process for the remaining area is underway.The Moradabad airstrip, upgraded into an airport in 2024, is currently undergoing technical processes related to future expansion, including land verification and planning exercises. Meanwhile, at Shravasti Airport, developed under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, 218 hectares of land has been acquired against a requirement of 226.75 hectares for expansion. The project has received approval for Rs 350 crore.
