Lucknow: Lucknow police have arrested five persons, including the owner and manager of a jewellery shop in Chowk’s Sarrafa Market, for allegedly confining and assaulting an employee inside the shop.According to police, the case was registered on July 31 at Chowk police station after Gopal Awasthi, a resident of Rampur Mathura in Sitapur district, filed a complaint alleging that his brother Shiv Bihari, who worked at Delhi Chain House in Sarrafa market, was locked inside the shop, assaulted and humiliated by the shop manager, owner and other employees.Based on the complaint, an FIR was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, police added Section 191(2) of the BNS and identified all five accused.Acting swiftly, the Chowk police arrested all the accused within 24 hours of the FIR being lodged. The arrested accused have been identified as Shani Soni (26), the shop owner; Gaurav Rastogi (35), the shop manager; Aman Yadav (23), Saurabh Sharma (30) and Devendra Majhi (35).The police said all five accused were arrested from Sarrafa Market, Chowk, on Aug 1 and are being produced before the competent court for further legal proceedings. The investigation into the case is continuing.
